HOw this journey started…

We are the 4th & 5th generations on our family farm in the beautiful Northern Rivers of NSW. Our family has been farming on our Shannonbrook property since 1929 and nearly 100 years later and we are proud to say that we are still farming at Shannonbrook and are so grateful for the opportunity. Our farm is something we take great pride in looking after for not only our family to enjoy but also for its future generations.

It was within our family, that we started to notice within the community, that people wanted to have more of a connection with where their food was coming from and how it was being produced. They were becoming savvier in how they spent their money and their ways of saving it too. So with this in mind, we decided to create what you now know as Shannonbrook Farms.

Australia has some of the best produce in the world and every day more of it is exported overseas than what is kept here for Australian’s to enjoy. So many countries pay extremely high prices for our food, as it is seen as some of the cleanest and finest food in the world. Whereas we feel our own country should have first access to our amazing produce. Which is why we want to give you the option to shop with total transparency, knowing that you are buying top quality, 100% Australian produce from people you know and trust. So you will know exactly what you’re putting into your body.. from the very first bite.

Our goal is to educate you, and your family and friends, about where your food comes from, how it is cared for and what it takes to put it on your plate at home. So that kids of the future don’t just think that food comes from a supermarket shelf. That it comes from the amazing land we live on and is carefully produced by our local Australian farmers.

Our passion is connecting you and Australian families with premium local foods that nourish, fuel, complement & optimises your day.

Our Farming Roots

It all began back in 1902 when our great grandfather Fred moved his wife Ada and their 7 children to the Far North Coast of New South Wales, where he had grown up as a child. They ran a dairy farm in Wyrallah near Lismore for 3 years before moving the family onto a piece of the old Wooroowoolgen station at Shannonbrook. Here they continued to rent a dairy farm from a local doctor, producing milk, cream and butter until their son Melville decided to purchase the farm. Fred and Ada then decided to leave Melville with the running the dairy and moved with the younger children down the creek to another farm within Shannonbrook. While continuing to run their farm, the couple was instrumental in starting the Shannonbrook school with another local family.

Their son Melville continued to run his dairy and went on to marry a local girl named Emily. They went on to purchase a farm on one of the hills within Shannonbrook. It came with good flats for cultivation and a dairy. The couple had 5 children which were reared on the property. Their eldest son Cedric continued in his father’s footsteps and started his own successful dairy breeding program at the age of 15 before expanding into breeding pigs. When Melville passed away, Cedric went on to purchase the property from his father’s estate.

In 1959, Cedric went on to marry, Daphne and they had 4 children. The children grew up on the family farm learning Cedric’s tricks of the trade before he decided to stop dairy farming in 2006. Cedric, Daphne and their (now adult) children had decided to expand into cropping and beef cattle. In which they went on and purchased properties together, some of which was adjoining to the family farm to expand this venture. Cedric and Daphne’s children have also purchased their properties within the Shannonbrook, Woodview and Casino areas whilst continuing to run the family farm.

Over 100 years, many members of Fred and Ada’s extended family still live and farm in Shannonbrook. We are proud to say that we are now onto the 4th and 5th generations of farming at Shannonbrook and are so grateful for the opportunity. It has allowed us to continue on their legacy and hard work, both on their final farm which we have been lucky enough to purchase back and on our father/grandfather’s (Cedric) farm.
